Abstract

Political thought has two motors: emotion and reason; but only one prevails over the other. If we make a historical review of the political changes in our society, we might think that it was the reason that motivated trust in the ideas of those who proposed a change, and that emotion is what currently rules; however, the approximations of psychology can give us a contrary diagnosis. First, it can show us that emotion is the engine of political thought, and then, that this has always been the case and that it is not a product of postmodern society. Politics and emotion are more related than we might think, and this is thanks to a network of components. Denying this reality is subservient to "political alexithymia."
