The objective of this study was to determine and identify the main diseases affecting the potato (Solanum tuberosum L.) crop in the province of Pataz, La Libertad, Peru. The study was of the applied type, since it was the farmers who, based on their experience, identified the diseases that damage the crop. Both the methodology and the design were descriptive and non-experimental. All potato growers in the delimited area served as the study population; data collection was carried out by means of a mailed survey, and a questionnaire was used for the participants. The results concluded that many of the farmers are unaware of the damage caused by the different diseases in potato production due to lack of training and advice from the corresponding authorities.
