Quality parameters in grapefruit fruits with applications of chemical and organic fertilizers

The experiment was done in a grapefruit orchard (Citrus paradisi Macf) whose variety was “Rio Red” on a sour rootstock, with an age of 14 years, located on the “Las Anácuas” farm in the Municipality of Geral Terán, N.L., México. The study's objective was to analyze the effect of chemical and organic fertilization on the quality Rio Red of grapefruit. The treatments were: 00-00-00 (control), 100-00-00, 160-80-95, 200-80-95, 250-120-140, 5 t ha-1 of chicken manure + 70-00-00, 10 t ha-1 of chicken manure + 35-00-00. Based on the results, fruit diameter and juice weight were increased when applying fertilizer plus chemical fertilizer (10 t ha-1 of chicken manure + 35-00-00). The highest percentage of juice was obtained with chemical fertilizer (160-80-95) and 5 t ha-1 of chicken manure + 70-00-00. The treatments with the highest juice acidity were 160-80-95 and 200-80-95. No significant differences were found between treatments regarding the thickness of the mesocarp and juice quality (°Brix and °Brix-acidity־¹ relatio).
